How should you behave during this pandemic? That depends. You might want to start by asking yourself who you are.
How do you value the greater good relative to your own well-being? We’re being told the less contact we have with other people the less the virus will spread, the fewer people will get sick and die and the sooner the virus will be controlled. So how strict are you willing to be with yourself about staying home? Some people aren’t leaving their homes at all. Some are leaving only to get food or medications. And some are leaving more frequently. We each do what we think is right.
This virus started with one person. All it takes is one weak link to spike an increase in the spread of the virus. It’s trite to say “We’re all in this together”, but this time we really are all in this together. We will succeed or fail together.
So who are you? How much are you willing to sacrifice for the greater good? This isn’t the time to judge anyone else. We must each judge ourselves and be prepared to say, now and forever, “That’s who I am.” This is a chance to stand up and show yourself not only who you are, but who you can be.
To thine own self be true.
